Correction, checked 17 August: Bundesliga 2026/27 does not begin on 22 August. That weekend is reserved for the DFB Cup first round. The league opens on Friday 28 August with Bayern Munich–VfB Stuttgart.

Opening match

Bayern–Stuttgart, 20:30 CEST / 21:30 MSK, Allianz Arena. It is the only Friday fixture; the rest of Matchday 1 follows on 29–30 August.

Why the date moved later

The 2026 World Cup ended in late July, compressing pre-season. The DFL placed the first cup round on 21–24 August and the Bundesliga one week later.
