Domestic football gets four days. Then the Champions League takes the next two. Matchday 2 of the 2026/27 league phase is Tuesday 13 October and Wednesday 14 October, eighteen fixtures, two kickoff times, and a Wednesday night in Manchester that will be clipped more than the other seventeen combined. Manchester City vs Paris Saint-Germain is Wednesday at 22:00 Moscow, Etihad Stadium.
The format is the same one UEFA has used since the league phase replaced the groups: eight matchdays, a table, then a knockout bracket. Matchday 1 was in September. Matchday 2 is this midweek. Matchday 3 is the following Tuesday and Wednesday, 20–21 October, which is a different set of fixtures — Bayern–Arsenal, PSG–Barcelona, Real Madrid–Leipzig — and should not be pasted into this week’s board. If a preview says Arsenal host Lille and also fly to Munich in the same paragraph without a date, it has collapsed two matchdays.
Both kickoff bands are central European time, still summer time on these dates. 18:45 CEST is 16:45 UTC and 19:45 MSK. 21:00 CEST is 19:00 UTC and 22:00 MSK. There is no third slot hiding in the list we used. Early games, then the main card. That is the whole clock.
Tuesday’s early pair, then the 22:00 card
At 19:45 MSK on Tuesday, Lens vs Sporting CP at Bollaert-Delelis and Sabah vs Slavia Prague in Baku. Lens are the French side people underrate until they are standing in that stadium. Sporting are the Portuguese side that treats this competition as a place to steal a result rather than as a tourist trip. Sabah are in the league phase at all, which is the story of their summer, and Slavia are the sort of away side that makes a newcomer’s home night feel longer than ninety minutes.
At 22:00 MSK the Tuesday card is seven matches. Read them as a list you can actually use, not as a paragraph of club names.
Arsenal vs Lille, Emirates. Arsenal’s league-phase home games are the easiest nights to find an English feed for, and the easiest nights to underestimate. Lille away in London is not a bye. It is a French side that knows how to sit in a shape and leave with a draw. Arsenal played Leeds at home on Saturday. Four days is enough to change a team sheet and not enough to pretend the legs are fresh.
Atlético Madrid vs Manchester United, Metropolitano. This is the tie of the Tuesday. United were at Old Trafford against Tottenham on Saturday night. Atlético were in Vitoria against Alavés on Saturday afternoon. Both arrive with a league game in their legs and a stadium that will not be neutral about it. Simeone’s Atlético at home in Europe is still a specific kind of evening: the game is decided as much by what United do without the ball as by whatever set piece the preview packages choose. We are not publishing a predicted lineup. The kickoff is 22:00 MSK. Be there at kickoff, not at the hour a US recap show goes live.
Inter vs Club Brugge, San Siro. Inter’s league game is Parma on Saturday at 19:00 MSK. Brugge on Tuesday is the European row. Same ground, different opponent, and a Belgian side that has annoyed bigger clubs in this competition often enough that “San Siro at night” is not a result.
Galatasaray vs Barcelona, RAMS Park. Barcelona have Getafe at home on Saturday at 19:30 MSK, then this on Tuesday. Istanbul is the away trip that makes a league-phase table look different in November if you drop points. Galatasaray’s crowd is not a cliché to be dropped into the second paragraph and forgotten. It is the reason this kickoff is on the same line as Arsenal–Lille and not in the early window.
RB Leipzig vs PSV, Red Bull Arena, 22:00 MSK. Leipzig also play Frankfurt in the Bundesliga on Saturday at 19:30. PSV are the Dutch side that score in bursts and concede in bursts, which makes a 22:00 kickoff more watchable than the table position suggests and worse to predict.
Viking vs Bayern, Lyse Arena, Stavanger. Viking’s Champions League season is already a story from the play-off, when they came from two down to draw in Zagreb. Bayern were in Augsburg on Saturday at 16:30 MSK. A Wednesday would have been kinder. Tuesday in Norway, in October, is the fixture that reminds a German side the league phase has away games that are not Paris or Madrid.
Villarreal vs Napoli, Estadio de la Cerámica, 22:00 MSK. Villarreal were at the Bernabéu on Saturday night. Napoli were at home to Frosinone on Saturday at 21:45 MSK. The ceramic stadium under the lights is a better watch than the billing “two sides who played Saturday” makes it sound. Both will be rotating something. Neither can treat a league-phase away or home point as optional in October.
Wednesday’s early pair
At 19:45 MSK on Wednesday, Feyenoord vs Como at De Kuip and LASK vs Liverpool in Linz. Como in the Champions League is one of the odd, enjoyable facts of this season’s table. Feyenoord at De Kuip is not a gentle introduction. Liverpool’s trip to Austria is the game that will be discussed entirely in terms of who does not start, because Anfield against Manchester City is on Sunday at 18:30 MSK and the league phase still charges you for a lazy away night. LASK are Austrian champions in this cycle’s story and a side Celtic already had to take seriously in the play-offs. Liverpool do not get to play a shadow team and assume the scoreboard agrees.
Wednesday at 22:00, including City–PSG
Roma vs Real Madrid, Stadio Olimpico, 22:00 MSK. Madrid were at home to Villarreal on Saturday at 22:00. Roma were at Como on Sunday morning Moscow time, which is a kinder turnaround than Madrid’s, and still not a rest. The Olimpico at 22:00 MSK is 21:00 in Rome. It is the romantic fixture of the night for anyone who is not watching Manchester. It is also a league-phase game, so a draw is a result with a number attached, not a moral victory to be written up and forgotten.
Aston Villa vs Fenerbahçe, Villa Park, same kickoff. Villa had Brentford at home on Saturday. Fenerbahçe’s European season has already included the Lyon play-off. Villa Park on a Wednesday is a ground that can be louder than the club’s usual place in the preview graphics. Worth the stream if City–PSG is a nil-nil and you want a game that might not be.
Shakhtar Donetsk vs AEK Athens is also 22:00 MSK. Shakhtar’s home games in this competition are not in Donetsk. The published matchday list places this one at Stamford Bridge. That is a London ground being used as a venue, not Chelsea popping up in the fixture by magic. Chelsea play Bournemouth at the Bridge on Saturday in the league; the European booking midweek is Shakhtar’s. If UEFA moves the ground, the match page should follow the move. Until then the row says Stamford Bridge and means it.
Bodø/Glimt vs Borussia Dortmund, Aspmyra, 22:00 MSK. Dortmund played Bremen on Friday. Bodø in October is the away game German coaches describe politely and players describe differently. The pitch, the travel and the fact Dortmund are not allowed to be bored of “a Norwegian side” after the last few European seasons are all part of the assignment.
City against PSG is the Wednesday fixture people will open first. Etihad, 22:00 MSK, 21:00 in Manchester, 22:00 in Paris. City’s league game this weekend is at Anfield on Sunday, which is the worst possible preparation if you care about fresh legs and the best possible preparation if you care about a team that has just played a proper match. PSG do not have a Premier League Sunday. They have a league-phase Wednesday against the English side most likely to treat them as a rival rather than as a poster. No score prediction here. The board will show 22:00 and then, for two hours after kickoff, a live row. A score lands when we have a final one to cite.
Real Betis vs Porto, La Cartuja, 22:00 MSK. Betis have Osasuna in the league on Sunday. Porto are the Portuguese side that still expects to collect points in this competition even when the draw is unkind. La Cartuja is Betis’s big-game ground in this run of fixtures, not a neutral picked at random.
Slovan Bratislava vs Stuttgart, Tehelné pole, 22:00 MSK. Stuttgart were at Paderborn on Saturday. Slovan’s ground is a tight place to defend a league-phase point. It will not lead the sports news. It can still move the bottom of the table, which is where October games quietly do their damage.
How to use the board that night
On Monday, Coventry–Newcastle and Levante–Sevilla are the domestic rows at 22:00 MSK. On Tuesday the board flips to Europe. Today, Tomorrow and Now still use the Moscow date. A 22:00 MSK kickoff is the same calendar day in London and Madrid. The early 19:45 MSK games can be in the second half before you have chosen a 22:00 stream. Start with Lens–Sporting or LASK–Liverpool if you want ninety minutes that finish before the main card, not as a second screen you will ignore.
Flags on these rows are club flags by country: England for Arsenal, City, United, Villa and Liverpool; Spain for Atlético, Barcelona, Villarreal, Betis and Real Madrid; Germany for Bayern, Dortmund, Leipzig and Stuttgart; France for Lens, Lille and PSG. Shakhtar stays Ukraine. AEK stays Greece. Bodø stays Norway. None of them should render as a Union Jack. That bug was a gb code. England and Scotland now have their own flag codes, including on the national-team rows from earlier in the week.
The Watch control opens the match page. It does not embed a pirate feed, and it does not know which broadcaster paid for the Champions League in your country. UEFA’s own match centre is the place to confirm a late time change. We will change a kickoff on the board when the list changes, not when a tweet changes.
If you only keep five fixtures: Tuesday 22:00 MSK, Atlético–United and Arsenal–Lille. Wednesday 19:45 MSK, LASK–Liverpool. Wednesday 22:00 MSK, Roma–Real Madrid and City–PSG. Everything else is on the Champions League hub and on Today once the date arrives. The weekend those clubs just played is written up separately, because Saturday’s kickoffs and Wednesday’s kickoffs are not the same article.
Sources checked 5 October 2026: UEFA’s league-phase calendar (matchday 2 on 13/14 October, matchday 3 on 20/21 October), the published 18-fixture matchday 2 list with 18:45 and 21:00 CEST kickoffs, and the club venues named on that list, including Shakhtar’s designated London ground. Domestic clashes mentioned above are the 9–12 October fixtures already on the board, so the turnaround is arithmetic, not colour.
